Richard Morschel

Richard Morschel was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. He received his musical training with his father, Dieter Morschel and continued his studies in Freiburg, Germany at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik from 1987- 1991 with Prof. Karl-Otto Hartmann. Richard gave his first solo performances at the age of 18 with the Cape Town opera and symphony orchestras. In 1989 he received 2nd prize for the international chamber music competition in Martigny, Switzerland with the Deutsche Kammerharmonie, a wind sextet that subsequently made recordings with the south western radio (SWF). Richard has done many solo concerts including recitals with William Bennett and Vladimir Spivakov. Since 1991 Richard is co-principal bassoonist of the Museums- und Opern-Orchester Frankfurt, Germany.
