Sibylle Mahni

Sibylle Mahni was born in Lund, Sweden, the daughter of Swiss parents.

Studies with Marie-Luise Neunecker in Frankfurt gave her the Konzert Exam in 2002. During her studies she was also a scholarship recipient "Foundation of the German People", of the "Villa Musica" and had worked with the Schleswig Holstein Musik Festival Orchestra.

Numerous prizes in International Horn competitions, ARD Munich, Leeuwarden/Holland, (with the special prize for best interpretation for the newly commissioned work), Peter Damm International Horn Competition lead her to work as a soloist with many top orchestras including the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Munich Symphony Orchestra under such conductors as Oleg Caetani, Toshiyuki Kamioka and Helmuth Rilling.

She is also an active Chamber Musician. A founding member of the "Ensemle Con Sequenz", "Trio Contact" with Sebastian Hamman and often performs solo recitals with the Pianist Ulrike Payer. She has also played with the Linos Ensemble, Asko Ensemble, Petterson Quartet and with the singers James Taylor and Andreas Weller.

She has performed at numerous international festivals with renound soloists and conductors such as Lars Vogt, Mirijam Contzen, Viviane Hagner, Jan Vogler, Sharon Kam and Daniel Harding.

She currently holds the position of Pricipal Horn in the Frankfurt Opera and Museums Orchestra and is Prof. for Horn at the Hochschule für Musik in Mainz.
